I should have come with a warning label on my BUTT!

Last night will probably rank in the books as one of my favorite nights with Preacher T.
We skipped the gym and just hung out together.  (one of my FAVORITE things to do with him.... nothing... just sit around and talk!)  We went to BW's, met a few friends and then he and I proceeded to go to a little hole in the wall, hideaway, local "dive."
T swears they have the BEST jukebox in town  ;-)
We are talking "OLD SKOOL" country!!!

So - we he played music and we talked and we danced (slow danced like high school people... don't worry - I made him keep his hands above the waist and in sight!  no hanky panky bizness!)

Anyperv....... T and I were talking about old songs.....  Stuff we listened to as children.

You wanna know what I remember being my favorite records to listen to as a child.

these were my parents old albums that I just couldn't get enough of.
(and I don't wanna hear a WORD about me showing my age.......I have a b-day coming up and I'm VERY sensitive!  SNAP!)

"Earth Angel"  Marvin Berry and the Starlighters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGuUM6LMadw

"It's MY party and I'll cry if I want to"  Lesley Gore
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsYJyVEUaC4

"Big Bad John" Johnny Cash

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWKGhwwVgKY

and my MOST favorite.....
"The Leader of the Pack" Shangi-Las

ANYONE see any patterns here in the music?

Anyone....

2 personality "foreshadowing" traits that my parents should have picked out LONG ago!  ha ha

#1 - ALL about ME!  ha ha
"it's MY party"..  "earth angel"   Yeah - Ok - I want what I want, when I want it and HOW I want it!    There's nothing wrong with that!  (ah hummmm...cough cough... ) Right!! ??

#2 - ALL about the rougue......LOL  Johnny Cash!  Leader of the pack!  ha ha   They should have KNOWN then and there they had a little rebel on their hands!    All about the action and breakin the rules!  ;-)

so as we were talking about this last night - I thought to myself.......
GEEEEEEZ
my parents should have known.
They should have been prepared for my DIVA rougue chasing attitude  ;-)
Why were they so surprised when I broke all the rules???

I should have come with a WARNING label.
"high maintenance, independent, easily bored, rebel chasing DIVA... handle with care"

YUP
that's me!

What songs do YOU remember listening to as a child??????
Any foreshadowing in YOUR music lineup???

Motivational (musical) Monday :)

So - I had a REALLY rough night last night and I've been struggling with what to share today in order to be ANY KIND of "motivational" for anyone else.......
It is so amazing to me that the ones you LOVE the most are the ones who can HURT you the most... unintentionally even.  My son and I had a really tough night last night.  He said lots of things to me... not to be intentionally hurtful - but instead he was sharing his honesty in how he feels I have hurt him.  Now granted - he's 14 and emotional and has a skewed perspective on things that have happened in our lives as he's been growing up.  BUT - even knowing all of that - his words can cut me to the bone.
I don't let him know that.  He has a right to express his feelings too.  So I listen.... and try to explain the best I can.  THEN - I go to my room, shut the door and slowly let my heart break.
This morning was tough... recovering from a night full of tears and regret and heartache.

But - as always......when you are at your worst - God will send answers and healing; you just have to have faith and the patience to wait for it.
I'm not saying all my problems are solved, but I am saying - when I am at my worst, God gives me music and answers and he sends people to help heal that hurt.. and I know that everything is going to be alright.

2 things I'm sharing today.

First - I got a message from Adam today that said this:  EVERYDAY GODS GRACE, LOVE AND MERCY IS SUFFICIENT FOR US. IT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. ITS ALL IN THE PERSPECTIVE IN WHICH WE CHOOSE TO LOOK AT THINGS, FEEL THINGS, AND APPROACH THINGS.
He's right - and when you are sad and nursing a broken heart - it's nice to know that someone can remind you that you have lost perspective!  ;-)
So - I'm passing on his message to all of you...  when you feel sad and defeated, take a minute to step back and change your perspective...

The other thing I'm sharing is a song I heard today.
I put in the lyrics also.
Today - I just want to thank God for ALL the love in my life.  God's love, Adam, my son (though I have to look a little harder to see that one - ha), my family, my extended family, and all my friends.
I hope the song touches you too and reminds you of all the love around you.... with that - you can get through anything.

"Unstoppable"

So, so you made a lot of mistakes
Walked down the road a little sideways
Cracked a brick when you hit the wall
Yeah, you've had a pocket full of regrets
Pull you down faster than a sunset
Hey, it happens to us all
When the cold hard rain just won't quit
And you can't see your way out of it

CHORUS
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
It'll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable

Love, it weather any storm
Bring you back to being born again
oh, it's a helping hand when you need it most
A lighthouse shinning on the coast
That never goes dim
When your heart is full of doubt
And you think that there's no way out

CHORUS
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
It'll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable

Like a river keeps on rolling
Like the north wind blowing
Don't it feel good knowing
Yeah

CHORUS
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
It'll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable
Love is unstoppale

So you made a lot of mistakes
Walked down the road a little sideways
Love, love is unstoppable

when it rains, it pours! WHY is that?!?!

Dear friends:
Today - I need a little support.
My friend's dad who had surgery just last week on his tongue had to go back today for more surgery.  They didn't get it all the first time.  Please oh Please say prayers today for him, my friend and their entire family.
Also - if you don't mind, just throw in a blanket prayer for me, and my other friends too.  And hugs, lots of hugs, AND please send some hugs Allyson's way too....
Anyway - more on life later....way too much going on right now  =(

much love to you all!
Thank you!
Tami G

PS - I had to come back and add this song I just found.
Tristan Prettyman - another recent discovery.

I love old song remakes

Very few songs are good enough to be re-released and STILL be JUST as powerful as they were the first time through..........the words have to be pretty powerful AND it takes someone phenomenal to match that first "classic" version.
Tonight - I give to you Foreigner's "I wanna know what love is" performed by Mariah Carey!  Good Lord she is phenomenal......that girl can SING!!!!  And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the piano in the beginning!  Mmmmm - what a great wedding song  ;-)
I'm also posting the lyrics after the video - READ them - good stuff!!!!

PS - after you listen to this - you might get the urge to get on YouTube and look up some old Foreigner.  Wheeeew - I LOVE me some old school 80's rock/ballads!!!  "I've been waiting for a girl like you"; "Hot Blooded"; "Jukebox Hero"; "Urgent"  - check out those hair do's!!!  LOL

Lyrics:
I gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
I better read between the lines
In case I need it when I'm colder

In my life theres been heartache and pain
I dont know if I can face it again
Cant stop now, Ive traveled so far
To change this lonely life

I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me

I'm gonna take a little time
A little time to look around me
I've got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me

In my life there's been heartache and pain
I don't know if I can face it again
I can't stop now, I've traveled so far
To change this lonely life

I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me

I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
And I wanna feel, I want to feel what love is
And I know, I know you can show me

*Warning* Emo blog to follow!

Ok - am I the only one that does this?!?!?
Sometimes, when I have a bad day, when nothing seems to be going right - I tend to shut everyone out; proceed to playing sappy love songs and replay all the things in my life I have screwed up?!?!  One bad morning and I'm spiraling the rest of the day?  Hello - am I really the only one that does this to myself?!!  Glutton for it in fact!!!!
Most of the time, I can snap myself out of some crappy incident and it's effect on me....I'm all "happy" and "lucky" and ya know "suzy sunshine" (i hate her today)
But then, there are days like today......when it just doesn't stop.
Don't wanna talk to anyone, don't wanna hang out with anyone, just want to retreat within myself and ponder all day on where I made a wrong turn and what needs to be fixed......

My therapy for this:  I can not WAIT to get to the gym.......me, my iPod, music and the treadmill.... and no one trying to talk to me!    *That's your warning David!*  ha ha

an old school dedication

My friend and I, over wine last night, (which is always amusing in itself) had a discussion about music.  It's soooo weird and amazing how powerful it is.  (I think I have mentioned that part before)  Anyway - we were at her apartment last night and heard a neighbor blasting some Michael Jackson "Billy Jean"   I STILL to this day can not hear that song without picturing myself in elementary school in PE doing some kind of random aerobic workout/dance crap!  So funny that this has never moved on.......

Anyway we began naming songs and who or what they reminded of us........and today - I would like to dedicate a song to an old boyfriend.......my first true love (or so I thought - which is HILARIOUS to me now!)  I still have a picture of us at homecoming together.....me and my BANANA CLIP!!   ALSO HILARIOUS!!!  who ever thought THAT was a good idea?!?  LMAO
OK - anyway - to my first "i thought it was love" boyfriend ..........who is NOW in PRISON!!!!!!!  Yes - that's right....burglary, breaking and entering, drugs, you name it......we broke up and it was all downhill from there....
Actually he dumped me for Mary Jane.  and look where he is now.  Wonder if he ever thinks about that decision.
So here's to you JG!

PS - can someone move this darn candycorn and peanuts off of my end table!!!!!  ha ha  Happy Fall!
